About Rachael & Dogs walk this way
My name is Rachael and I am a massive animal lover, who is very experienced and reliable. I own two horses called Junior and Cariad, 2 rescue cats called Andre and Princess, the lovely Romanian rescue doggie called Basil who was in a coma for several months and only given 5% chance of survival all because humans treated him so badly in Romania and recently Chaz who was saved from the streets of Romania where his time was up in April 2015.
From an early age I have always had all sorts of animals from hamsters, rabbits to cats and horses. I had no interest whatsoever at school as all I wanted to do was work with horses and I felt that I did not need my exams to work with horses so I left school a year earlier than I should have and went straight into college at 15 years old. I successfully completed my Diploma in Equine Studies at Merrist Wood College and went on to work at various different yards, Show jumping, Dressage, Hunting, Racing, Team Chasing, Showing and Eventing. After working with horses for several years and completing my stage 1, 2 and 3 Riding and Care exams I decided to set up on my own, freelancing, which I did for a further few years. Sadly I was not getting to spend enough time with my own horses and needed more money so I decided to change my career and work in an office/corporate environment which I did for 10 years. People have always said to me "you are in the wrong job", "you have a gift", "you need to be working with animals". All my friends and family say to me how particular I am with my animals and in fact any animal I come in to contact with. When I have looked after peoples animals in the past for favours, I would always treat them like my own. People say I have OCD when it comes to animals!
I have been heavily involved in all sorts of charities such as Cats Protection, RSPCA and many other local charities. Last March (because of rescuing my Romanian doggie, Basil) my attention turned to what was happening in Romania which is absolutely heart-wrenching and I could not sit back and do nothing, so myself and two friends set up a charity and have visited Romania to volunteer helping save dogs from death. I have successfully re-homed 250 dogs since April 2014 and we now have 4,500 supporters on Facebook alone. We also set up our rescue kennels at the lovely Chyfields sanctuary in Normandy near Guildford thanks to the lovely Julia Stephenson who wanted to help set up this sanctuary so that we could help save more doggies from near death.
Since doing this, I began to realise that I was not supposed to be working in an office for the rest of my working life and I needed a career change where I can make a difference to peoples lives and do what I love the most, which is to spend my time with animals.
I had always thought about setting up my own business where I can help look after other peoples animals when they are at work or go on holiday but I have not wanted to take the ''risk' due to having a house to pay for, animals to pay for, car and normal everyday bills but after being made redundant last July I decided to do what I love, which is looking after and being around animals. I have successfully built the business up from nothing to now having lots of clients on my books due to the professional, kind, reliable and experienced services that I offer. I will always go that extra mile to help you and/or your animal out.
I can assist you on a regular basis or on an ad-hoc basis with dog walking, dog boarding and looking after your cats or any other small animals whilst you are away.
Dog walking will be a full one hours walk and I can offer private walks for dogs with any 'issues' too. I have seen and dealt with many dogs with all sorts of 'issues' due to the rescue work I do, so I have a lot of experience with every type of dog.
